Take this review with a grain of salt, questionable character. Probably only caught a handful of coyotes to use it on.

I have one. They work. Definitely not a 22 revolver. I guess it depends how far from truck you get and how many coon skunk badger ECT you catch as well. For general fur trapping in unpopulated areas I wouldn't bother.

Wouldn't bother with listening to them other characters either... All work for government.... They got all day to kill a coyote. Lol

If you run a lot of traps, you need several of them.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I've never used a death ray, but everybody claims it is quality built. I have used other poles to dispatch before, but I prefer to skin my critters fresh, as soon after dispatch as possible. I found on a fresh critter I get as much (or usually more) blood from a noose dispatched critter as a shot one. Blood in the fur is nothing to me to deal with anyways, I would actually prefer blood in the fur to blood running over the head while I am trying to skin it, which is my main complaint with noose dispatched critters.

Would work well in areas where you need to dispatch quietly. For myself, I prefer a pistol.

For myself it's a very valuable tool. I don't have running water in my fur shed an blood is a pita to deal with. It only takes one shot critter when stacking fur to completely soak everything touching the truck bed in blood. Drives me crazy. Then the battle to get the frozen critters out of the bed while blood side is icy. A death ray minimizers all that big-time an allows for easier fur handling. Only blood I gripe about now is if a caught critter works their foot over b4 I get dispatched. I have used ray to release a few doz cats over the years as well. Worth every penny

Coyote are hard to skin and not have blood. I use a .177 pellet gun, doesn't cause a lot of damage but works good.

I’ve got 4

I like the fact that I can remake the set fast and be down the road faster

I’ve had one for 5 years. I would never go back to a gun. Get instructions on how it works and you will understand how it works. Some of these comments don’t make sense.

I have 4 because I operate out of both a pickup and a side by side, and don’t like to have to remember to transfer stuff over from one to the other

I also have multiple bags with setting gear and lures/bait, screens, etc

I like to have gear on both sides of the pickup bed, in case I take someone with me that wants to set traps, or do remakes on their side of the pickup

So, when Lee Steinmeyer came to Coyote Days, I started buying a Death Ray or two every year !

Great tools, speeds up dispatch

Only thing quicker is a .22, which I used yesterday, because those coyotes were staying there.

Great tool. No complaints. Have 2 I’ve used for several years and they’ve been used hundreds of times.

I trap for fun. I skin 'em for the money!

I bought one at a convention last year. I really like it. I used to shoot everything with a .22. But that was bloody.

And sometimes there are ammo shortages. I do predator control in Texas, so I catch a lot of animals. My landowners want everything dead. Coyotes, bobcats, foxes, coons, grinders, pigs, etc. I was shooting 1,500 to 2,000 rounds of .22 ammo a year just to dispatch. Now I shoot under 500 rounds.

Death Ray is fast and deadly. I like it.
