Never experienced really sucky situations. Me and one of my class mates are the only vets in class. Me army him Coast Guard. As guys do craps starts getting talked and stories start getting told. And Honestly feel like me and him are the only ones who really lived out the whole group. He's telling stories about being in 30' seas almost falling over board , almost getting struck by lightning, being so sleep excused he's hallucinating, doing drug busts on cartel boats and I'm telling similar about sand storm almost getting run over , running missions for 48hr straight passing out in 130 degree temps wearing full MOPP 4 in the desert almost getting shot in live fire training . And these other guys are looking at use shaking Thier heads saying we crazy ! " Y'all not scared y'all could have died out there !" Me and him just laugh and tell them yeah but we got cool stories and memories not to mention the adrenalin rush if it all. They just can't relate though . I mean our casual talk on our experiences just seems to shut them all up. All their stories consist of dealing with basic boring women folk, clubbing, their baby momma drama cheating and not getting caught ( which apparently I'm the weird one because I have all these stories about meeting fine (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) women folk while deployed but I never cheated 🙄), drinking and maybe a bar fight.
Idk me and him started to kinda keep to ourselves when they talking starts though. Reckon the good book says rejoice in your suffering for more then a few reasons . Dont think many good stories or character building comes from being comfortable and doing the easy way your whole life.... Idk seems like I didn't appreciate life as much till I went though all that..... Idk maybe why I dont like the KISS methodology when dealing with a lot of stuff...... . But hay what do I know. Anyhow

If your life has never been in someone else's hands that wants to literally kill you, no one can understand the value of their own life. Keep chewing brother.
How many lies will people believe before they realize their own idiocy?

Holly crap, Wolfie, You have lived a full life.
Today I may have to go out and seek some adventure.

Now your seeing the bs side of it I was talking about. Unfortunately the reality is that you will not have anything in common with 90% of guys you meet on a boat. There’s a ton of opportunity awaiting you if you can stay in the other 10%. Beware though that other 90 will try and drag you into there world. Good luck Wolf Egh it's not too bad I feel. Mainly just dealing with my class mates . I enjoy my work and Ill work with them but when it's my time I just kinda go off in my own little world for a bit. Can get along with most peoel if I need to. Work is work then after that my times it mine

I was drafted into the army back when there still was a draft. I can say, I'm glad I did it, but wouldn't want to do it again.
I'd like to see the US do like Israel does. When a male turns 18, he is put in some type of military service. Some of the finest people I know were in the military.
My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

Idk man, I've said it before, the military is full of dirt dags that volunteered to do it. Force people who don't wanna to then...well.... Not to mention our social structure and theirs are two different things.

Not to mention our social structure and theirs are two different things. You may be right about that. Back in my day if a guy got in trouble with the law, he was often given a choice by a judge, prison or the military. Some took the military and came back transitioned from a boy to a man.
My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

Its not the same military today trapper7 I mean I had a lot of family who got dressed who would tell stories about doing the bare minimum because they where hopping to get kicked out. They don't care and they don't want to be there . And that as in nam. Sorry if I'm gonna have to depend on someone I want them these with me because they want to be there not beotheu where forced. Look at the most effective military units from the last 100 or so years. Easily 90% are volunteers. Names MACV SOG is a prime example. And if you've never hear of them look up John Stryker Myers and listen on some of his stories.

What I meant by a different military is training was much different. Kinda goes back to your original post Wolfie. Like I said I get it.
