Just wandering if you have bought urine and questioned its age ?
I am curious cause the stuff I have bought in the past was really amonia like, even after sprayed and dried out it still was not quite right. Some of this stuff does not even remotely smell like the critter it came from.
I have some bladder collected urine that still smells fresh.
Just curious on your thoughts of The freshest Pee.

well you hear all the braggin bout pee and you get it it smells like that. I aint sayin names but I got some that spiked with skunk. I called the person to just let him know, not mad mind you, he acted like I slapped him in the face. I offered to send it back for him to smell. His reply was who says you did not put it in there. Whatever, I am on a quest to find the real deal. I open the jug and it smells like a cat sprayed ya in the face.

I have bought red fox urine over many years, and never questioned its "age." I have some now, stored in glass containers, that is over five years old - nothing wrong with it.
Have been fortunate and never have had "bad" urine that I hear people speak about - unfiltered, poorly handled stock that smells like sewer water.
However, most of the urine that I have obtained from penned fox does have a stronger ammonia odor than that of straight bladder urine. Since I am not a licensed and certified wild mammal urologist, I do not know why that is. And, actually really do not care.
All that I do know is, is the fact that the ammonia in fox urine I do have does not interfere with its effectiveness. Every so often I just burp those urine containers and let that excess gas out. Even if used at a set with the "ammonia" odor, it won't take long for that strong odor to dissipate - gas be gone, if you will. Not a big deal that I am aware of.
Asa Lenon, Bob Jameson, Paul and several others have addressed most aspects of animal urines at considerable length over the years on this forum.
I guess you know what your nose knows to discern the relative degree of quality from your urine purchases. I really do not think the "age" of it has a direct correlation whatsoever with quality.
I know of one dealer in Ohio who backs the quality of his urines 100%. He stores his urines frozen, thaws a given amount to fill an order and ships it. I have never stored my urines in the freezer, but it is done by many trappers without any problems.

No need to freeze good urine, but it can't hurt.... dirtholeman...I have also "heard" about a certain dealer putting skunk juice in his "urine product"...lol....this same person has his urines forsale with plastic wrap over the top of the lid (and then the cap is screwed on) and then the cap is black taped..... I had went over to the booth to smell this urine in question (I had heard from different Trap supply dealer that he felt there was monkey business going on with that individuals product) so when I got there and was going to give the smell test I found that it was almost imposible to get a smell because it had been armed with tape and plasic wrap, etc....lol....only way to find out was to buy some and I wasn't gonna buy any...lol..so never found out the truth

I wouldn't doubt your local hydrant saw a few lifted legs. It has been a leaky subject in this neighborhood with a wide range of odors gathered from near and far more than once.

Lot of difference in urine being sold. Some is diluted with stuff like glycerine and some isn't even urine. Guys mixing up concoctions with ingrediants like phenyl acetic acid, urea, ammonia or combinations added to urine. I don't have a problem buying urine but I am choosy about who I buy from.
