What makes you think that doesn't happen year round? 10 years of poor fur prices, recreational trappers can't keep up with exploding populations. Plus the govt gotta get their cut.

That’s how it started anyway. Seen them signs in a couple spots, killing travelers.

those are all over the place around me...I think It's B.S. ...Been high water all spring, so I got a late start...I had 1 week to trap, and they got traps in half the spots I go, combined with all the "high dollar beaver" guys that decided to expand/ come out this spring...it's been tough..................we should not have to compete with USDA guys....I normally trap up/ down from them...but this is ridiculous

If I have more time next spring...there's going to some serious phone calls made pertaining this this crap

They trap whenever they are called upon to prevent damage to property, livestock, or threat to human health and safety.
They are required to obtain written permission from the landowner which includes methods used and species to be targeted.
If they are trapping on land which you have permission to trap on, you need to talk to that landowner.

I'd call the USDA and tell them you don't support CRP.

If you dont have registered lines how do you have exclusive rights to the resource?

I have never heard of government trapping crp unless they are employed by the land owner.

They manly do birds in my area in WA because we out performed them on beaver and the WDFW stated giving us deer permits.
It was costing the drainage districts, dot, county 600- 800 per beaver until we steps in, now it is only 300.
Get a nwco lic and start making calls. Put pressure on their business.

There is a non competition order in their directive.

I had one pulling my colony traps out of un blocked converts during the last upswing in prices.

My wife snuck up on a USDA employee using a tennis racket to kill bird in a m style starling trap.

They are hard to complete with on shooting coyotes or birds unless you live in a town that the sheriff knows you qualified.

My favorite call “that guy on the 4th floor is me if someone called in a active shooter” but do it before starting.

He could call the number on the sign, and in my experience dealing with them, they will pull traps.
I have been fighting them for 24 years

I worked with them cage capturing otter for relocation to NM, and captured most of the otter that they needed, then they “tried lol” to trough me under the bus “ because my business card had the WDFW symbol in front of my wco number in small print.
That was simple to justify.
I was happy I never gave them my secrets.

Chris, what is your association's stance on the matter? They should be working to put a stop to this nonsense.

I'd also call whoever is in charge of the USDA program and see what their policy is, here they are say they aren't going to trap a few weeks before season opener and won't start again till it closes. I don't know how well that is followed, I know that it hasn't always been to a T.
