Look at the most effective military units from the last 100 or so years. Easily 90% are volunteers. Names MACV SOG is a prime example. And if you've never hear of them look up John Stryker Myers and listen on some of his stories.

You are right. We in the US are quite different from the Israelis. They care more about their country than the average person on the street cares about America. That makes a big difference.

My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

Yep it was pretty bad in the 70's early 80's I'm pretty sure most of the volunteers then were knuckleheads not to mention druggies. Speaking from experience.

I had the pleasure to visit the hometown of John Rambo this past winter. Anyone know where it's located? It made me chuckle when I initially found out.

I have the utmost respect for anyone who has served. Even the fictional Rambo.

The Rambo character was from Bowie, Arizona. Not sure on the actor.
