Wife and I planted a couple Bing Cherry trees about 20 years ago. No blossoms to speak of...ever! No fruit ever. Looked out this morning and both trees are covered in blossoms. There are bees out there right now going from blossom to blossom.

Last year we were told that if they ever had a reasonable amount of blossoms we should spray with some sort of "blossom set" or something along those lines. Thinking that after all these years we would never get this number of blossoms, we did not write it down nor take it very seriously.

If someone with experience with Bing Cherries could let me know what we are supposed to be doing to increase the chances to getting a few cherries off the trees it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Blossoms will "set" on their own. Hopefully they will flourish if they don't get froze out. If you have a bumper crop, you can go though and hand thin the cherries when they are pea sized.

No experience on cherries as they do survive in the south but aren't cherries mostly self incompatible needing another variety to set fruit?

Bing cherry trees, like most other sweet cherry trees, do need another variety of cherry tree nearby for pollination. Sour or tart cherry trees are self pollinating.

If everything else goes right, just hope they don't get a good rain while ripening or they will split.
I've heard that commercial cherry growers in Yakima/Wenatchee area are happy if everything aligns just right, and they get one good year out of three.

While I love our long growing season and warm enough to grow things like figs or citrus I wish we could grow cherries.

I was grown before I realized just how good fresh cherries are.

Just might explain so many years with no cherries! We must have been young and foolish back then. We were just talking and aren't even sure if they are both Bing.

You need a pollenizer for that Bing. Out in my country Bings are pollenizers for Royal annes and vice versa. On its own you're SOL.

Might have just figured out my Mother's Day gift for this year...

A cherry tree might go over a little better than a couple of new 660's.

I love Bing cherries. I buy them every year regardless of price.

As an American I'm growing tired of our ancestors being compared to the migrants of today.

You might ask local extension office for variety recommendation. I know Bings are super popular in Pacific Northwest but they are not recommended where I live. Wonder if that holds true for your area also. We grow alot of tarts here and not so many sweets
