I have 2 friends that are on the skinny side of normal, that have severe obstructive, sleep apnea. One had surgery on his airway, that didn't work to cure his sleep apnea and is now scheduled to get the electronic implant, because his Cpap is not working well enough.

My son died in his sleep from apnea at 23. He refused to wear a cpap. To be fair he had a lot of neurological issues, but it was the apnea in the end.

I have had a CPAP since 2005. I own four now. One is for travel, a battery operated one for airplanes and power outages, a replaced model, and a newly replaced Phillips. I can’t sleep without one.

My current problem is that about three years ago the silicone in my masks started to blister my cheeks. The same was occurring in my ear canal from my hearing aid earbuds. I found a fabric mask that fits over the nose area and inflates to make a seal. It is the most comfortable mask I have ever worn. Zero plastic and no rash. Dr. Google found it.

If you need a second machine for travel convenience, there is a company on the Internet named Second Wind. They purchase, rebuild, and resell all models of CPAPs. Some of the older models are dirt cheap and just as good as newer models. I have been very pleased with one I got from them a decade ago.

I was diagnosed with it and wanted to avoid the machine by loosening weight…they say it won’t matter. The machine helps but I keep track each night. What you put into your body before bedtime matters…it keeps track of the events per hour…caffeine, alcohol and spices matter.

That's funny. My wife says the same exact thing.

"Lost 80lbs on keto. Sleep apnea is gone. I am an ultrasound tech. My liver looked super fatty prior to keto. After 6 weeks of keto and down 38lbs, my liver looked normal, my triglycerides went from 194 to 60, no longer needed blood pressure meds.

Not sure how a fatty tongue happens, with all the exercise some on here get, flappin them things like they do. When your prostate ruins your sleep everynight, maybe the mask is worn in the wrong place...

you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

I use nasal cushions. Won't go anywhere without it.
It has also helped my acid reflux.
I average about 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

I used to have superpowers… but a therapist took them away.

The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!

Keto is a dangerous diet. You lose weight but you also lose your health. High fat low carbs aren't good for you. Hard on the heart, especially if you already have a bad heart.

Ack, right with you, my son and I just hunted 4 days in Kansas then 4 days in Nebraska sleeping out of the back of
the truck. We actually had a nice little set up and free camping but had to take a generator for my cpap, I won’t go
anywhere without it as I can’t stay awake the next day when not in use!

I use a deep cycle battery and power converter for mine.

The implant is called Inspire. I've checked into it because I can't get used to a mask. I've tried nearly every type of mask they make, might wear it for an hour. The Inspire is only implanted by 2 doctors in the whole state of Nebr There is quite a screening process you must go through, 7 different steps if I remember correctly. Doctor said at the initial meeting, that up to 20% can't get used to the implant. It is very expensive also and not all insurance will cover. Takes 3-4 hours to implant.
