A while back I was seeking advice about what size pipe for a chimney on a small wood stove. I settled on 2.5" exhaust pipe and took a 20# propane tank along with some square tubing and a chunk of 1/2" thick flat plate steel for the door. With some thinking... some fabricating...some welding.. I am done building my small wood stove . I plan to do some overnite stays outdoors next winter in an insulated ice fishing pop up shack. Tonite I fired it up and burned off the paint and tested the small pipe chimney. I does the job. A couple more tweaks and it will be ready to go !!!! [Linked Image]

Looks good . Tack a small flat on top for chili can and your coffee cup. The best is homemade !You could not buy one like that ANYWHERE on the planet.

The Lorena mud stoves had an opening on top just the right size to fit a pan in to boil water. A neat innovation.

I like the work you did. Looks nice.

How do you adjust the air flow with the door closed?

I have not decided if I am going to put holes in the door with a slide adjuster to control air flow or if I will just leave the door cracked to where I want it..... after I learn how much for the correct air flow. I have made other stoves for my wall tents (from a water pressure tank and an air compressor tank ) that I simply leave the door cracked open to where it needs to be. Seems to work ok.

That 1/2" steel door looks heavy. I assume you don't plan on packing it very far. Otherwise it looks good. My one question is, was there a reason you made the legs so tall? Maybe it is just the picture, but it looks like there is a couple feet of clearance under the stove.
