Here in the USA it would be the socialist side of the Democratic Party which I do believe the president and the leaders of the senator are, also the vast majority of them in the house would also lean towards that side of the party, I also tend to think that some republicans have the view that they if the federal government is weakened by the states they will loose control so they’re more power hungry than anything.

The homeless in the 30's came from two camps. Those who were share cropping and those who were in debt for their homes. No welfare so after a few months that included the 20% unemployed who had no family to take them in. A lot of people survived with gardens and chickens if they could irrigate during the drought.

The people who survived that were tough. Roosevelt invented welfare and drug it out longer.

Now the idea of welfare is so embedded farmers believe they can't farm without it and most people think it helps out unwed mothers and unemployed fathers.
