I truly enjoy kids sports. I don't watch them often but if I'm watching sports I would rather watch a T Ball game over a pro game. The kids attention coming back to the game from kicking the dirt, all the kids running after the ball triping over each other, the innocent youthful excitement of just having fun and learning without the pressure and all the other current event bs.

Anyone else similar?

What I don't love about it is the "bleacher coaches" from the stands screaming and running their mouth about every pitch, every hit, every call. I've told more than one to shut up, sit down and watch the flipping game! Probably a good thing they won't sell beer at little league.....

Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

LOL, that's why parents are banned to certain areas and required to keep quiet!

Love it too.
My youngest is in little league for the first time. We missed registration last year. I'm loving it for the most part. Lots of fun and memories are made and brought back. I help him with drills tips tricks techniques etc... as my health allows.

I'm not into any organized sports, but when I took my son and foster sons to youth rodeos the other parents that remembered me from back in the day would talk me into all kinds of things. I ended up formally or informally coaching and or running all of the rough stock events.

To make a long story short, it ended up being not only some of the most fun I have ever had, but also proved to be pivotal in shaping young skulls full of mush. The association I ended up putting together has racked up a huge number of national titles and NONE of these young people play video games and mooch of their parents. They are the movers and shakers and understand the value of hard work and setting goals.

It has left me thinking that anything we can do to get kids off the couch is probably the best thing for them.

When I was a young college student, my date and I would often attend a little league game at night. Admission was free. We preferred to sit in the middle of the parents. As much fun watching the parents as there was watching the little league game.

I thought my daughter's fifth grade basketball was going to be excruciating before the short season started this fall. Turns out it was a blast!

Umpired way too much of it. Yes its quite entertaining at times but the rest requires self medication afterwards.

Really have a hard time watching any sports these days guess I'm burned out on watching. I'll play and officiate it but being a spectator just doesn't interest me. Only sport I do watch is golf.

I've spent many weekends at soccer games, football games, cross country meets, rowing meets, Judo tournaments, BJJ tournaments and wrestling tournaments with my kids.

Wrestling is my favorite. Some of the parents are straight up crazy. I used to coach on the mat. Now I just chill in the stands with the less crazy moms and my wife.

Yup. Wrestling is one on one. No teammates to blame. Track is second.

Track is brutal. You never know when each event is can't always see them do their events.
Cheer is a nightmare. Cheer moms are the worst. Gymnastics is ok. Wrestling and various martial arts is great. Kids basketball football and baseball are great. Little League certainly has changed from when I played. No more team gear (helmets and bats for kids to use).

Personal helmets are much better. Was never fun getting drenched with another guys sweat when you grabbed a team helmet. Bats are pretty expensive these days

Baseball is my favorite sport to watch with kids. One grandson starting t-ball this year. The oldest grandson loves baseball and has played in the travel teams every year since he was old enough. He is now a freshman and they have moved him up to the varsity. His dad has been working with him on his curveball and this is the first year he has let him throw it and it is a good one. Think he throws in the mid 70s. He has even hit a few home runs. Best thing his dad has taught him is arrogance and disrespect wont fly, you see so much of it in high school kids and it drives me nuts. The other day at a game a batter must have mumbled something but the umpire heard him and gave him a thorough talking to loud enough the center fielder could hear it. That I enjoyed.

Lol so true. Bats are crazy expensive now. Plus in my son's little league they have to be specific bats must have and only can have USA BASEBALL stamp. I found a decently priced bat for him for $50 and gave it him on his birthday (Saturday) 1 of his coaches presented it to him during his 1st at bat. Everyone at the game cheered and told him happy birthday

I am no longer a big fan of youth sports. constant parents thinking their kid is the next Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady..... Cutthroat competition. Paying big money to join AAU or travel teams.. Not playing for this school, because the school across town is better.... the list goes on. I always thought wrestling was the worst. Every parent knows the rules of the mat, and in reality, didn't know anything... The fun of just playing is gone.

At least now you can get a few years out of a bat. When I was in HS baseball, we literally had to to get new bats every year because the requirements changed each year. Started with an -11 no at then -7, then -5 then -3.
