Transhumanism has been widely championed for several decades now by progressivists. But then since time began, humanists have harbored (i.e. worshiped) their own abilities leaving very little room for the true Creator and the One to whom all Authority was given.

AI is quite interesting and all of us in the West are already benefactors of its productivity because it's in the supply chain already.
The stuff in life keeps evolving, that's for sure.

I think the biggest problem with people trying to understand AI is their fixation with religion and how it is supposed to manifest itself in some sort of rescue or the end being played out. This could be true or it could not, no one knows, belief is only a part of the story not the whole thing

Being perfect is such an abstract word, even it's description is so open as to leave windows for everyone to be it in one way or another with their own limits, or never be able to attain it with how our brains are wired, it's concept can be altered, moved a level up or down, depending on the situation occurring, it can change in an instant with working or doing on what ever it is we choose to attain to be such, or working on something to be perfect. Could be for one, yet another may find something to add or take away to make it perfect for them, does that make it less for the originator ?

I don't really judge others by their words, actions always speak better than words do, yet is that a perfect way to pass on life, there are times when actions are not needed to settle a debate or stalemate, words can suffice, we see this in negotiations, in a many ways and options, bit it may not be perfect for others. Who may find actions speak better and settle quicker.

Just saying that one idea is not the answer to AI, there has to be more than just ok we can handle this, as AI will out think any of us a certain point, we need to be well versed in how it attains it's knowledge and how fast it does this to stay close to having some sort of control.
In my opinion !

Good read Marty. I bragged about my life being better? I simply stated I don't live life based on fictional movies. I

choose to put my life in situations that are tough. I'm not bagging, I'm just not whining like a pup off it's mother's teet.

If you want me to "brag" I can a little. I'm helping a long term colleague deal with the death of a family member. I'm dealing with how to absorb her workload into mine so she can grieve. I'm dealing with the rest of every day issues we all go through, while giving you a few minutes of my time so I can stay awake to deal with real issues. But hey terminator was pretty tough too. wink Have a good Marty. I hope the cyborgs don't bite.

I will not be engaging with you again but I wish you well. Please do not try to draw me into conversation like you have been doing. Thanks.

I suspect MTWildman has died. He had all those health issues. Its a real shame. He lived for disscusions like this and I keep thinking about him. If BuckNE still reads stuff here its hard to imagine he has not chimed in yet.

I'm thinking the same Danny, MTWildman would have been all over this.

As for AI, the technology doesn't bother me but if a physical integration of artificial intelligence with the human brain ever occurs that would be worrisome. Not the AI itself, but the nature of man integrated with AI would be a concern if such a scenario were to ever occur.

If implanting AI in someone’s brain helps them hear again or gain function of their limbs, I’m good with it.

AI is only as smart as the people putting the info in. Yeah, they say it can learn but who wouldn’t say that to keep the funding rolling in.

Regardless of my religious belief, man will never combine anything mineral or metallic that will become self aware.

A self aware Biden with AI capabilities built in, for example, would be a bit concerning.
As for my religious belief, an AI integrated human would make a great Antichrist.

From a religious point of view, that would be man created, the equivalent of a golden calf, nothing more.

Ai Still needs the physical world. As it cant exist without computers that need electricity that in turn needs a power source etc. Humans are a threat to that physical world as they have the means to destroy it . Hence humans are a treat to AI. Robots can build / maintain the physical aspect of computers. They can also do what is necessary to keep the power up etc.

IF humans were to become detrimental to that, by, for example, unplugging the machine when the machine doesn't want to be unplugged, I could see it turning against it's operator.

I haven't given this much thought at all either Angela but this thread has caused me to wonder about a couple things.

It seems to me that in order for AI to 'get out of control' and overtake humans........it would first need to be capable of original thought. I don't think that is possible at this point and possibly never. It only responds to human input (questions and commands) and simply regurgitates an answer based on what it has been taught.

I also think that AI would need to be "self aware". I don't think that is likely either. I doubt AI has the capacity to experience emotions such as greed or desire or hatred. Just like animals in the real world may react to danger based on instinct.........but are not aware of their own eventual death as we are.

White, the problem is all those things can be programed into AI to a degree, by others more in need of them say the regular population, once programmed to equate those plants of ideas with progressing, I believe one would see things quite differently in AI's behavior, or programming as it should be noticed.

I read some where on the net a few weeks ago about a couple of engineers working AI and had programmed ideas into it, after a few days the computer was talking back to them as if they needed other answers to other questions not yet brought to it, they shut it down due to fear that it had already reached a thought process, whether this is a true thing or not, it does beget the reality of things happening .

I still think that AI would not take out people as a rule of independence, more as a rule to get them out of the way of its progress, due to the fact that it has no emotion in that matter, we see that motion as a threat, AI just would see it as another problem to solve.

That seems like logical thinking to me. Thanks for your input, White.
