looked at them for years but either they didn't fit or I talked myself out of one because they are not cheap.

a month ago I hit a 50% off sale at Fleet Farm it was on clearance must have been old inventory and got a 5.11 vest for 47 dollars which was a lot better than the typical 95 I see them at
I found the 2x is borderline too small and the 3x in the 5.11 is quite roomy

I like my game vests and hunting vests to carry stuff while hunting but they are typically orange because for deer it has to be and for anything but turkey , ducks or archery it is just a good idea to have some orange when you play on or near public land. even turkey hunting on public land an orange hat to pull from a pocket and put on while moving stands isn't a bad idea.

back to vests and not orange ones
they get called all sorts of things
photographers vests , fisherman's vest , outdoorsman's vest , IDPA vest , travel vest
and the shoot me first vest , which really apparently the vast majority of society didn't get that memo.

I like it , would even pay the current midway sale price of $72
it is just really handy to keep your phone , wallet , reading glasses , flashlight , knife and other stuff in the cheaper than water thread got me thinking about the water bottle pockets on the back , used them this last weekend it was warm out and 2 0.5L bottles both fit nicely but also balance out just drink so that they stay even. cases of those 0.5L bottles get them down to 11 cents a bottle. I found when carrying them in my hunting vest that if you squeeze all the air out as you drink and cap they stop crinkling or sloshing.

it gets all the stuff out of your pants pockets that pokes you while sitting or wants to drag your pants down

I have to say so far my experience wearing it has been very similar to Massad , gotten a few compliments and questions yes mainly from the men over 50 asking where I found that , it looks really comfortable.
I even found a hard glasses case that fits perfect in an AR mag pouch aka camera lens pocket on the front
can reach my cell phone while driving my pen doesn't find it's way into the laundry , don't sit on my not book spiral binding , always have a set of ear plugs with.

had to go to the Mad city where I had to go through security metal detectors I made sure I had nothing not allowed I even left my knife in the truck , I still had what I thought should have been too much metal to go through a metal detector the security lady and Madison cop never even gave me a second look.
all these women had to go through a bag search because that is how bags work in security areas but clothing they don't search.

so I say yup , embrace the vest , I don't mind being looked at as that old guy (not really old) and no I am not in the over 50 crew yet all my kids are adults and I have graduated to reading glasses that fit in my AR mag pouch very nicely.

Massad is the man !

I love the fact with all the stuff he had packed away in that vest he had a sandwich and a backup sandwich. That is prepared !!!! grin
