In Louisiana we can sell meat of furbearers caught during season. I have a market for coons and possums. Nutria meat is a hot item if you find the right market. My neighbors will fight over beavers as they think its better than deer. I had a guy call me last week asking about buying bobcats as he loves them grilled.
I have a couple of land owners who gave me permission to trap anything I want on their property because last year when I started back up I gave them some beaver, nutria, bobcat, etc fully processed and in vacuum sealed bags. When I trapped in LA, sold every coon/possum could not give the beaver or nutria away. I said take one and try it...no way.

The Oregon Dept of Fish & Wildlife allows us to sell any part of a legally taken furbearer. But the selling of meat is administered through the Oregon Dept of Agriculture. I have checked it all out and what it boils down to is we can sell carcasses without indicating any particular use for them (could be fertilizer right?) but we can not sell them as human or pet fare or do any butchering of the meat. Any butchering would need to be in a USDA inspected facility. And that ain't gonna happen.

Asked a CO one time. We can't sell game animal meat, but furbearers are furbearers, not game animals, so I could sell them. Never bothered to look for a market though. If you find a market make sure to leave one foot on the animal. It gives the buyer knowledge of what they are buying. Down here if you don't have a foot, no body will buy it as they think you are trying to pass off a cat, dog or whatever.

When I was living in the UP a family picked up 6 or 8 muskrat carcasses every few days. I never got paid for them, they were friends. I never had the desire to try and eat them.

I was shipping coon carcasses to SC for 10 years or so. Got $10.00 a carcass. Then It got to where they wanted more and wanted them sooner. It just became to much work. I gave my contacts to a friend. I think he's still selling them.
