The Lauster Wargel LW5 was a 36 ton machine built in 1943 to recover stricken heavy tanks, but also as a tractor that could tow a trench digging plough. It was powered by two 235 hp maybach engines that gave the LW5 a top speed of 30 kmh and a towing capacity of 53 tons.

That thing looks like a beast. I wonder what the fuel economy was? Gallons per foot?

Good heavens. I’m pretty much speechless on this one.

Wow! What a rig!

It's not always about catching fish. That's what people who don't catch fish usually say.

Nothing! If it got stuck, it became "high ground".

I have nothing clever to put here.

On guard duty in Vietnam I watched a big Cat, D6 maybe build a berm on our perimeter. It hit a very wet and muddy spot and got stuck. Several hours later, with the engineers digging fruitlessly the whole time, an M88 track recovery vehicle showed up. They drove up near the Cat, hooked up cables and pretty quickly buried theselves too. Another hour or two later a Rome Plow shows up. The did not drive into the mud, hooked the cables up and in a couple of hours everyone was free. What a mess though.
