Best of luck with it It is not possible to get any dog on whatever you want them to hunt . Once they understand what you want them to hunt it just takes repeating the exposure to that animal The more exposure you can provide the stronger their prey drive becomes And than it is a matter of refining that drive into a dog that is hunting for you .

What kind of wild birds do you still have in your area? No quail left in 99.9% of NC.

Gus points at any bird that is not flying. Last week he was chest deep in water and pointed a bird in the tree. Getting ready for the fall hunt

Only thing really left is woodcock here in the fall . The quail as you described are almost nonexistent here . I have been training him with mostly pigeons . I do use pen raised quail sometimes when I want to shoot a few for him but not a fan of them as some are poor flyers. He has don really good with waterfowl this winter and absolutely loves geese. As it is quite the challenge to get him to focus if he hears one in the distance or sees them flying they get his full attention 😂

Thanks Muddy. Yours is a beauty too! laugh Mine does more waterfowling than anything else. Loves Geese, ducks, and Doves. :-)

Two birds down, retrieved both and was watching more come in for a landing HA!
