most people do not grip the handgun hard enough, they 'hold' it.

that works on slow fire targets where most people start shooting

it then changes in other faster shooting where you drive the gun to the next shot and to the next target.

working on your controlled pairs and bill drills gets you driving to the next round

Not moments, maybe 2 seconds.

Not moments, maybe 2 seconds.

why are they hearing that, seem foolish to wait to load the gun till you are ready to fire , shouldn't the 600 lumen light in their eyes be warning.

Col. Charles Askins wrote a very good book called Gunfighters that covers most of the well known gun fighters.

Bat Masterson also wrote a good one (though small) FAMOUS GUN FIGHTERS OF THE WESTERN FRONTIER -(he did NOT like nor think much of Doc Holliday - though Wyatt Earp did)

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure

a couple friends of mine were police firearms trainers

one intentionally doesn't like to run on the clock , it has it's place as a sport but will argue in training doing it right is more important than doing it fast.

it is a different angle to look at things they are also looking at some things as a team activity and not a solo activity.

they would move methodically through a building/stage not try to go fast , moving very deliberately to keep the most of them hidden while engaging the target , they are decently fast but making the hit is more important than how fast the do it.

where on the flip side completely competitor friends they want to push how fast can I go and still get c-zone hits where can I cut a corner , game an angle , or game a stage. then run it again to shave seconds.

it is a different philosophy one is training for targets that shoot back and one is training to run a sprint on cardboard and steel.

what's the best pistols in a gun fight, a rifle in your deputies hands already aimed

movies aren't always the best examples but this scene from Man who shot liberty valance , John Wayne shoots Liberty valance from across the street from the dark alley

you can skip to about 2 minutes in for just that part
