Lots of work. You still haven't sold them? Thought you had a primo buyer? Surprised at the lack of color variation. Why oh WHY.....is there on in every group??? He's going to the fur buyers this weekend and 45 straight(without feet) with feet is more is pretty darn primo to us. Anyway.. he's taking his fur this weekend.. He has 350 or so beaver..56 otter...25 cats..90 gray foxes...74 marten..not sure his red numbers..he's holdingvras and castor. He has a full time job which is why he's just now getting his fur to the buyer. He has more tha. 10 pieces of fur and its 19 hrs one way...but the money is more than worth it. The buyers fine with it. He sold his yotes earlier.

Lots of work. You still haven't sold them? Thought you had a primo buyer? Surprised at the lack of color variation. Why oh WHY.....is there on in every group??? My questions were in response to statements you had made earlier about buyers. No criticism or complaint. For the first 11 years of my life in Alaska I also had to make choices on where, when, and to who, to sell my marten. The sale side of trapping is just as interesting to me as the catching. Maybe others are interested too. Thanks for answering my questions. Pretty hard to get an Alaskan collection of marten with the consistent coloration as Jerry's pictured catch.

If it takes you 19 hours to drive one way to Minnesota, wouldnt it be cheaper to ship the fur there?

If it takes you 19 hours to drive one way to Minnesota, wouldnt it be cheaper to ship the fur there? No. He literally has a truckload of fur. It cost him 1.50 a hide to ship his marten last year..and theyre little. He has 300 coon,50 otter,324 beaver,90 gray foxes and the other stuff. It'd be way over 1000 to ship it. He shipped 50 beaver once and they cost 2.00 a hide to ahip to.NJ. He could.ship it byvgreight on a pallet but we don't have a pallet jack or access. Both the guys he sells to buy at fur harvesters so there's no since in paying the commission there so he goes straight to the source. Plus he's going up for the BS.

Lots of work. You still haven't sold them? Thought you had a primo buyer? Surprised at the lack of color variation. Everyone who shipped to FH hasn't sold there's yet either. We told you if you'd like to sell your marten we had a good market. Our buyer actually has a guy in Alaska that buys for.him.

Boco dont you remember there is a certain LADY that likes road trips....especially ones like last week, so any travel on Minn roads those bra straps will be tightend up.
just too bad there was not a back side shot of the collection, one thing that I did not was the tails were not filled out at least in the picture, and marten tails are the last to prime up. Good observation there, you know Marten.

Well if you figure 80 cents a mile for vehicle expense (which is on the low side) it will cost you half to ship than the cost to drive 2400 miles.

80 cents a mile operating costs? That must be a metric thing. I would think 30-35 cents a mile is more realistic.

Its actually 80 cents a Km thats why I said 80 cents a mile is low.
