I prefer real taters over instant potatoes,,, but the only ones I like are the hungry jack instant potatoes,,,, I have no idea what is going on,, but Walmart has quit carrying them and none of the stores in my area have them anymore… have anyone else noticed this? Did something happen to the company?

I don't know but when was the last time you tried the Idahoan buttery homestyle ones? I like those almost as much as homemade.

I haven't had instant potatoes since high school some 35 years ago. No plans to start again.

Potato Buds vanished also from the marketplace not sure why the ones at Wally World are not that great. With a little salt, pepper, sour cream, butter and cheese they make a quick side dish.

I agree, idahoan are very good. I dont eat potatoes anymore. Our walmart was out for a yr but now lots of them

If I have mashed potatoes, there from a box can't stand the other's and it's pretty rare to eat any, maybe three time's a year.

I paid good money to go to a fish fry in WI. The owner ask me when paying how did you like your dinner,I told him the fish was OK the 🥔 you gave instant not real SO NO TIP!.

LOL I like my real potatoes , the instant just don't cut it!
They leave a nasty after taste for me.
Seems not much tastes like it did as a kid any more.

I hate to be a killjoy here but those of you that have heart and diabetes problems would be wise to stay away from instant mashed potatoes. it spikes your blood sugar faster than about anything.

I really like Idahoan Potatoes; great and easy for camp food.

Can't stand the taste of instant mashed potatoes. Reminds of my childhood, and powdered milk.

It's also one of the emptiest foods, unless there are plenty of added vitamins, minerals, etc., which is not usually the case. Someone I know well served on an aircraft carrier in the Barents sea and they were fed a diet based on instant mashed potatoes for weeks, and some of the sailors developed bleeding tongues and gums (actual scurvy symptoms). Even ramen is better because there are usually at least some trace amounts of vegetable/soy scraps floating in the cup

I prefer real. But if I'm going to eat "instant" I'm going with Bob Evans.

I've been known to eat a whole family size container of them in a sitting. Especially if I'm eating something like hot roast beef.

Those that have not had instant potatoes in over a decade.... they've changed. I used to despise them as they were always grainy, like eating sawdust. Those Idahoan ones now though, I bet if I made a batch of homemade and a packet of the Idahoan's and taste tested it, some of y'all would guess wrong.

I have to ask why would anyone eat instant potatoes on purpose. There is nothing hard about making real potatoes and the time and effort is minimal.
