I stopped at Harbor Freight this morning to pick up some zip ties. At the checkout, the fella asks for a phone # and I give it, not thinking much about it, then he wants my name, address, etc... I said, "You don't need to know that, I just want to buy these zip ties, I'm not trying to apply for a life insurance policy, fcol!". He seemed put out about the whole thing... For the record, Zip Ties might be the best invention ever!

Do the same up here I tell them ring me up or I leave hate it plus hate everyone asking if I have rewards

Take these complaints to the corporate level. Companies on the Internet are bad about this also. Often I don’t even complete a purchase because I don’t want all the downstream advertising.

Worst of all is a sweepstakes entry that wants your age. I know they sell their lists. Just enter a Buckmaster sweep and see how many calls you get.

Maybe someday it will be illegal, or is it already illegal.

They think you want their ads in your Email

I just give my phone#

I give them a fake name and phone number when they ask that.
I use a name that makes them wonder a bit.

Kid at the counter asked me that...... I gave him the store's own number that was right behind him on the wall.......he looked at it a few seconds. Then he actually said, " man, that looks familiar."

I told him " I bet it does junior " -- I'll see you later.

Just ask for their number and address…the checkout goes pretty quick after that.

Next you get an e mail asking if you were satisfied with the zip ties and if you like to write a review and take part in a survey and on and on and you get a bunch of adds every day. You won't have time to actually use those zip ties

Zip ties are only good if you are bringing them to the police

I simply tell them "no."

Tell them you don't have one because you cannot afford to have Phone Services and then try to bum some money from them.That should stop it.

I just give them my number. They already have all my info because I was a member back when I made skinning machines. I save many hundreds of dollars on vice grips and hoists! Now yet about an e-mail per day, but I gave them my burner email address so I rarely even look at it. Not really any big deal, then again I'm not paranoid as some folks either.

Yes , zip ties are right up there with duct tape and spackle buckets, But the quality has gone down since they're all made in China now.
I use several hundred a year, a lot of them break cinching them down and even though I get the black ones the sun makes them brittle.....

As for Harbor Freight, I just tell them "next time,I'm in a hurry", lol

I've never had any ask for my phone number. But, lately so many stores are pushing you to get one of their credit cards.

For over 30 years my business has had a Sam's Club membership. The last two times I was in the store, the lady at the check out has been trying to get me to sign up for a Sam's Mastercard. The last time she said I could get $30 credit on my purchase if I signed up for one. They must get a commission if they talk you into one.

I like going there, buy a $5.00 item and get free rags, coupon's and free flashlight.
Just pay cash and I give them a phone # from 30 year's ago and I come up as Joe Blow from apple wood N.Y.
