Felt some lite chest pain ...short of breath alittle...heart beat faster a few times lately. Seen a heart doctor Friday. Had me come in for a dye test 2 day. Got 2 stents due to 80% plugged arterys . For those who have stints..... what can I expect?

I had one placed to correct a 90% blockage of the widowmaker artery in 2007. Still kicking. I see my cardiologist every year for a check up. So far, so good.

I got a stent about 5 or 6 years ago, piece of cake, I was in and out the same day.

I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Had one put in Dec06 they shocked me twice to bring me back. I was very lucky to be in the emergency room being check out at the time. I was 55 years old and had the widowmaker. I was trapping that afternoon when I started having sharp pains on my right elbow, the reason I went to the hospital. Three weeks later I was in the swamps trapping beaver. I do anything that I want it did not slow me down. What it did do is make me look at life different take nothing for grant and live everyday to my best. Best advice I can give you. Love your family member and let them know it and spend time doing things that you were always to busy to do before. We have been given a second chance at life for a reason.

I had 3 stents in 2011 at 46 years old. Been doing good since. Dr check every year. Mine they went through the groan. Now they go through the wrist. Good luck.

I had five bypasses installed in 2006. I am now in the process of getting set up to have my aortic heart valve replaced. Fun, fun, fun. I had things put off till after trapping season ended and I am planning on it all being in the past when the next opening day comes around.

They do wonderful things with the heart .Many of us would be long gone if not for the things the doctors have to correct the glitches . I have had my share of interventions and am still upright and mobile . The stints are a one day in and out deal for the most part .I have 5 of them now . They go with my 6 bye passes . The OP should be just fine for many years to come . I am a couple of months short of 81 and still trap ,hunt ,fish and drive . The VA has done well for me . I am lucky my VA is staffed by Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital heart Doctors . The best in the world .

Hey all.... thanks for all the positive and inspirational comments. I an going home 2 day and feel fine. Doctor came in this morn an said all arterys and veins looked good except for that one artery that feeds the back of the heart. He put 2 stents in the spots that needed them. One was 90% plugged and other spot was 80%. Said it was good that I came to check out the slight warning signs.... I didn't think I had any thing too wrong with me. Just old age and a little out of shape. But good thing I went in. Thanks agsin!!

Feb. 8th. 2023, I went to the hospital Emergency. That chest pressure (I thought it was indigestion), come to find out the Widow maker was plugged 99%.
Two days later, I got two stents put in. Went home the next day. I was told they are usually good for 10 years. Heres hoping.

Got 5 stents installed about 8 years ago plus they held off on one pipe that was 68% blocked so they decided to wait until it plugs up more.
I was In & out on the same day, installed the stents through my wrist.
Probably due for some more plumbing work shortly plus my left ventricle has a mucked up valve, plus my Atrial Fibrillation has me squirreled up on most days.

I had my aortic valve replaced the last week of august last year. I missed the trapping season but I think if it wasn't a cage only state i would have been able to run a small trap line. I'm feeling about 90 percent of normal right now. Might wan't to get a bidet for the bathroom lol cause that reach around won't be possible!

Glad I did as my mitral valve need repaired for a small tear that wasn't seen until they were in there.

Yesterday I was getting stents around 2 PM ..... tonight I put one and about 3/8 of a mile behind in a real brisk walk. Stopped only twice to snap a quick photo inside a couple wood duck boxes. I was amazed the way I kept going with out stopping to catchy breath every 70 to 90 yards. I could breath a deep big breath on the go and just keep going Heart rate was above normal... but not pounding around the 125 or so hard beats like before the stents. The Good Lord gave me a wake up call and I am forever his servant. Thank you Jesus!!
