Good luck
another thing is to check the Manitoba river data and it shows the levels and discharges, the river has only dropped 2 feet in Winnipeg
try the Flood gates before as you drive by Wpg, Turn before St Norbert coming into town, bank fishing or almost pole fishing on the west bank
the big ones sit between the large boulders so a up and down between the rocks- then the action starts

Muskeg, a DIY trip at on of the landing from Drayton to Pembina would be easy and keep costs down.

There are some pretty good catfishing videos fishing the Red River on youtube. Watch all you can find. Good points in all. One that I had forgotten about is if you don't have action in 20 30 minutes, move. Use flat river sinkers in the 2 to 3 oz variety. On the Red you can use 2 rods.

I know if you are fishing in a boat you can fish the MN or ND half of the river and your MN license will be valid. I'm pretty sure you can dock on the ND side and as long as you are fishing on the water you MN license will be valid. If one would fish from the ND shore he would need a ND license.

Never thought of doing a fishing trip to the Red, but I’m liking the sounds of this. It’s a ways but not too dang far and I have a friend who lives in Fargo! Good luck Muskeg, and make sure to let us know how everything went when you go!! Happy trapping! ScottW
