Age of the pups has an impact on the effect of the eviction material. The younger they are it seems the faster response time the female reacts to the odor. Placement / how much and how well the material is made also plays a major role in effectiveness.

Not much of a study IMO. 4 years and only 17 data points and they threw out 2 of those leaving only 15. And it did not sound like they had a lot of confidence in the data collected on those 15.

Maybe I have just been lucky but all my raccoon jobs with babies I have used the WCS "Vanish" and have had 100 % success. I have seen the momma stick her head out of a soffit within 10 minutes of placing a paper towel with Vanish on it in a soffit with a baby in her mouth. I always smear some directly around the hole she chewed so when she enters or exits she gets some on her coat and the scent follows her where ever she goes.

Now that squirrels have had their 2nd, litter I was going to try it on squirrel jobs to see if the momma squirrel would more the babies due to the smell of the predator. In the spring I get calls for squirrels and get traps freed up from other jobs to find a female raccoon has found the hole the squirrel made then took it over and ate all the squirrels then proceeded to have her babies there.

Maybe Jonesie will answer this with his vast experience on squirrels and raccoons doing ADC work. I would love to know a fraction of the stuff he has forgotten about squirrels and raccoons

I quit reading when they got to using moth balls and ammonia.

I've had good luck with Vanish , with one exception.

I had one job where the Vanish caused the sow to keep moving the pups to a different spot in the structure. Mid-century cottage built by a handyman with no building codes. Lots of funny voids in odd places. Chased the sow around to different places everyday , finally after about a week of this sillyness she left.

Other than that , good luck with Vanish.
