They can build a nest, lay their eggs, hatch and be gone before you can turn around. My favorite bird.

Hydro, these eggies are a songbird's nest, a wren. On Michael's table saw. he does have another thread going at the same time too, of his pretty Brahma hen hatching out a chick. Now, she is definitely in the chick mode

She did the same thing last year in almost the same spot. I was sitting in the shade under a tree one afternoon when I was all of a sudden " covered " in little wrens. They flew the coop and not yet so sure of their navigation and flight skills, they landed on my head, my lap and shoulders ...6 of the little bugs and mom was screaming from a bush near by to get them back to her and away from that dangerous looking bearded creature . Made me chuckle , but trying to sit as still as i could so they would not panic

It is fun to hear the whirr of their wings buzzing by your ears . The whoosh of a breeze. I've had adults do that right by me , in hunting and sitting very still.

Its amazing how many trips they must make to carry so much stuff. Robins are just as bad. They start earlier in the morning than I do, one year I would tear out a nest on the manifold on the tractor and drive it all day and by the time I'd get back to driving it the next morning she would be building it back. That went on 3 or 4 morning and she finally found another place.

I was building a barn and knocked off for the night, went back out the next AM and a Robin had built a nest and laid eggs somewhere in between! Had to knock off for a few weeks till they'd hatched and fledged and left the nest. Had to put up a fence to keep the dogs away, but they got a couple anyway.

We had a house wren build her nest in the feeder in an empty rabbit cage. The eggs were jelly bean size. We could touch her and she would stay put on the eggs.
