I'm in no way picking on old or actually disabled folks--I get that maybe you couldn't get out. I am just curious as to who actually traps on Tman. For many it's obvious that you do. For others, I wonder.

Every year since 1968. Still catch a few coyotes, red foxes, marten, skunks, weasels, muskrats. I am setting fewer traps every year; getting old.

You're one of the obvious ones! There are many others.

Trapped all year round for many years, now I take about 6 weeks off in March and April.
If beaver prices rise some more, may get back to spring under ice beaver trapping in march and early April.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I trap as much as my broken down body
and bad ticker will allow me.

I know I will never get all the traps I own
set out in a long line.

This last season was the first time in many many years I didn't set even one trap. I got my reasons I don't need to share. I'm not sure if I really belong here on TMan anymore though...LMAO

I've trapped for the last 15 years--way less than many on here. Still learning but getting more proficient every year. I still learn a lot on Strictly Trapping. Otherwise I've learned from books and videos (June and Schneider mostly). I have along way to go but need to retire so I can do more because the line keeps getting longer. Neighbors and others in my area keep calling.

Anyway, just wondering.

I do but not big numbers. Mostly problems for neighbors.

Trapping was more fun when rats were $8 and gas was 1.25 and I only made 8.00 a hour milking cows. Now ide probably have to catch 400 muskrats a day to make what I can in a day of work, lost alot of appeal as far as bigger numbers go.

I do, haven’t missed a season in over 40 years. Ups, downs, I always go.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I do but honestly I just enjoy messing around trying to catch coon and possum and crap in wacky ways.

I started late and quit early. I started with nuisance work, went for fur for about 15 years in between, and still do the nuisance work full time. Haven't skinned anything in about 7-8 years. I give my good fur carcasses away. Most of my trapping is squirrels, skunks, woodchucks, some beaver and a couple raccoons here and there. Lots of bat exclusion.
I just lost the desire to put up fur even though I really liked admiring the result.

I trap some of everything I can. Not only do I love trapping but I enjoy putting up fur even more. I also like lure and bait making and tuning traps.

Do you also trap and put up fur?

Some put up every year but it's hard because of time. Most sold in the round.

Missed last year no place to put up my fur the way I wanted to. I'm always hitting the skunks the year round but that's really slow this year for some reason might have been the extended winter. Winters really suck the hydration levels out of them many are sponge like in the spring with little mass to them. Nothing I don't trap always been a multi species trapper .

Trapped from '76 to '87 when the market crashed....Switched gears for many years trapping little, raising kids, plus got big into predator & varmint hunting during that time.

Got the trapping itch again back in 2015, and actually enjoy it more now with being retired, fewer competitors, and not having to rely on fur for income.
