Need a little guidance. This is a variation on the cheap hotdog, koolaid type catfish baits. Lets say that you have some old, very freezer burnt porkchops. If you were to cube them up into bite sized pieces what would you add to enhance their appeal? Unsweetened cherry or strawberry koolaid and enough water to cover is the starting point. Vanilla extract, garlic extract, anise extract -- some of each, what would go together and what would not. Any other ideas using porkchops as the base? Eating size farm pond catfish is the target. Trying to avoid attracting the piranha like bream that devour most any other bait if possible.

Fishing for specific fish in a body of water that holds other fish is much like trapping. You may catch a variety of species before you get to your target animal. Bream like cooked hamburger. Don't know about pork chops.

I agree Mr. Jameson. Thats why I am playing around with different scents and baits. I'm hoping to find a combination that is more appealing to the target species, and hopefully less appealing to the others. Very similar to what lure makers try to accomplish. It's also a way to recycle the freezer burned meat into something that will taste a lot better.
