We're expecting amendments this week to both the House and Senate environmental bills that would prohibit any future wolf seasons. Our only chance is to kill it in the senate. The Senate environmental bill is SF2438. We need to flood the following Senators with emails urging them to vote no on any amendments prohibiting a future wolf season to SF2438 . Senators Abeler, Hoffman, Hauschild, Kupec, Frenz, and Seeberger. Those are potentially very key votes and we need at least three of those six to vote no, assuming all the Republicans vote no as expected. You should contact your own state Senator as well to make them aware. Do it as soon as possible, we're expecting action on the bill this week. Email links: Senator Abeler: sen.jim.abeler@senate.mn Senator Frenz: https://www.senate.mn/members/email-form/1224Senator Hauschild: https://www.senate.mn/members/email-form/1252Senator Hoffman: https://www.senate.mn/members/email-form/1205Senator Kupec: https://www.senate.mn/members/email-form/1253Senator Seeberger: https://www.senate.mn/members/email-form/1265

Thank you Randy and thanks for the hard work you do.
Trappers it only takes 5 minutes to email these individuals, ten tops. Let's get it done.
If you are unsure how to do it, I can help you. Let me know.
All it takes is a short note stating your name and where you are from. Something along the lines of there may be a possibility of an amendment to omnibus bill SF2438 to remove existing language that allows for a wolf harvest if they are removed from the ESA and you would like their support opposing any new amendment.
This bill will pass with or without the amendment. If it happens it will be near impossible to get a season reinstated someday.
Pass it on to all of your family and friends.
Steve

Sadly, I'm very lax on anything political (vocal) but I'm gonna do this.
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo
You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

Thank you for making us aware Goldy, I already wrote in and for those who are writing in it might serve you best to try and make it less of an emotional play and to bring up that wildlife should be managed by the DNR and not by legislation. This is important because it allows for the management to by dynamic and change as needed by trained wildlife biologists. Stuff like that seems to sway those in power better than personal accounts of “(This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) wolves”, anecdotal anger is less convincing than facts about how management is supposed to work in this country. However, your mileage may vary. August
Just remember, wherever you are, there you’ll be.

The Senate passed the omnibus Bill without the provision to stop future wolf hunts. The house omnibus Bill passed with it
What will happen now is they will each select committee members from both bodies to reconcile the 2 bills. We will need to see who is on the committee from the Senate to understand the next move. They should select the committee any day now.

Just a quick update. The final committee has been selected to iron out the differences and the fate of a potential season. Let me say that the committee members selected could not be much worse. 1 southern republican and the rest democrats of which none are from the north
Randy or I will publish more detailed update yet today and we will have to send out an email blitz and phone calls.

Like Steve said above, the conference committee has been selected. Unfortunately, its looking like the Democrats wont allow the senate body to even vote on the wolf issue, which is where we could have stopped it. Looking at the people on the committee, its likely an anti-wolf season amendment will be added. Both the House and Senate will vote on the final environmental bill and its highly unlikely the democrats that may have voted against the anti-wolf season if it was separate, will vote against the whole bill because its likely hundreds of pages long and includes lots of different subjects near and dear to the democrats. Its what can happen when one party controls the whole legislature. Contact the following legislators and ask them to keep any language preventing a future wolf season out of the environmental omnibus bill: House of Representatives: Rick Hansen rep.rick.hansen@house.mn.gov Patty Acomb: rep.patty.acomb@house.mn.gov Athena Hollins: rep.athena.hollins@house.mn.gov Sydney Jordan: rep.sydney.jordan@house.mn.gov Larrry Kraft: rep.larry.kraft@house.mn.gov Senate: Foung Hawj: https://www.senate.mn/members/email-form/1213Nick Frenz: https://www.senate.mn/members/email-form/1224Jennifer McEwen: https://www.senate.mn/members/email-form/1241Tou Xiong https://www.senate.mn/members/email-form/1267Julia Coleman sen.julia.coleman@senate.mn

It's a disaster. Eight Democrats and one Republican. Only one of the nine lives outside the metro, a Democrat from Duluth, could just as well consider all nine metro legislators.
I'd say more but I'd just be preaching to the choir so to speak.

This weeks commentary in the MN Outdoor News is a letter to our Legislators asking them to remove the language prohibiting a wolf hunt in Mn if removed from the ESL by 11 different outdoor groups. The MTA was not one of them. Seems curious. These groups are advocates for many outdoors people. You would hope these legislators realize this. This commentary is the opinion of thousands of people, and should carry more water than my letter of opposition.
I have already sent my email opposing this garbage, they do not care what I think. We are no longer constituents of either party.
Help yourself.

Yes, the final draft of the environment and natural resource bill has been produced and there is no negative language related to trapping or the wolf season.
It's a win for this session.
Thanks to all who sent emails, wrote letters, contacted like minded people and groups.
