Knew the butcher that did grocery runs to the barges. He told me no burger goes to the barges. It is well known the Navy feeds way better then the Army as well.

As a young Navy guy everyone was assigned a temp duty while on the ship. This was my first time and I was assigned to pots and pans. Nasty nasty job. It was a short deployment so no big deal. Well one day a Chief comes in and went around the galley asking what everyone thought of their temp assignments. When he got to pots and pans, he asked me and I said there was no place I’d rather be! I told him I have to be somewhere doing something and it was just tradition. He told me to ditch the gloves and apron and follow him. We left the galley and went up, and up and up, until we reached the a hatch labeled the Admirals Mess. I was now assigned to the admirals mess, lol. Talk about good food!!! Lawd have mercy, steak, lobster, crab legs, you name it we had it. Bacon and pancakes every morning for breakfast with a side of filet mignon. Good ole greasy hamburgers for lunch (whatever you wanted you got) and the above mentioned for dinner! All that because I told a Chief I was happy doing the crappiest job there was, lol.
Oh yeah, for those that don’t know, Navy stands for Never Again Volunteer Yourself

I can only speak for a sliver of experience in the army.
Army food, and everything else sucks.
