While a good source of summer pollen it's not the most nutrional being lacking in many amino acids BUT an interesting correlation was recently observed. Bees on sunflower had markedly lower numbers of varroa mite. Cause unknown at this point.

I planted two planting a few weeks apart. Local pollinators hit them hard honey bees only a little. Must have been something else blooming they liked more at the time.
