Do any of you sell it? I'm going to try this year. I think I'll market a mixed species and variable quantity sizes. I'm not sure how long it should dry 1st. Some of it I should maybe split in really small pieces for kindling

It sure is appalling what the convenience stores charge for a mini bundle of firewood. I never see anybody buying it that way though.

In many places a lot of that bundled wood has to be treated for insects.
One guy I know got set up in a great location and was legally shut down
within a week.

My neighbor stocks the local gas stations with the bundled wood. I can't believe people buy it either. His biggest customer is a gas station along a high end local lake. He said if those yuppies run out of wood on a weekend he has to restock immediately

I call them apartment bundles, 1 or 2 for a party or an evening. camp ground bundles are sawmill slabs that were alive last week!

Construction sites are good places to dumpster dive for scraps of 2x4. SPF is fine firewood.

I see those little stands at the end of driveways around here where you pay for campfire wood on the honor system. That would be an easy way to go if you had enough traffic.

A tackle store on the way to a county beach campground here did a heck of a firewood business... He'd get trees delivered by tree companies for the cost of some bait and cut and split it for the campers. Many cords per summer.

I sell firewood to a lot of campers in the area. I’m in the heart of elk country in PA. I don’t do the bundles I do a stand with 4 sections each section 2’x2’x4’ 20$ all oak and cherry. Also at my place I sell by the truck bed load 100$. Or I’ll deliver a full size bed 3/4 ton truck load for 175$ loose stacked so a little over a face cord. Cheap compared to most around in the area but I have a limitless supply of fire wood from logging and clearing properties so it’s better then having it rotting into the ground.

I helped a friend do it here. We are a very tourist oriented area. He sold thousands of bundles. We would start putting bundles together in the fall for next summer’s sales. He had a couple open ended shed the bundles got stacked in so they could get air movement.

I sell campfire wood to a local guy who has a cottage on the lake. He buys about 1/8 of a cord at crack. He comes and picks it up, I help him load it. Takes about 5 minutes at most. He gives me $40 and is happy as can be.
There is a couple of lakes around here that a guy might be able to build a side hustle selling small bunches, delv'd and stacked for campfires to the lake dudes.

I have tried selling firewood around here in 1/3 cord or larger amounts and its hard. Lots of competition and lots of guys who cut their own and aren't gonna pay much at all for it.

The only way I'd bother selling firewood is small amounts less than 1/3 cord, bundles and kindling at a premium price.
You'd have to have excellent service and sell good dry wood. Type wouldn't matter as much as it gotta be dry and burn good.

I had to give away firewood for OWB's and charge for loading. It was all popple so it had no other use or value. about 90 cords in summer. Those guys are tight fisted, none of them would pay for the wood.
