I recall reading an article by Ross Seyfried about casting two part pistol bullets. A hard cast rear with a softer nose, the idea being much like a partition bullet with the soft mushrooming with the harder base driving through even if the nose sheers off. Actually know a Kiwi fella , Von Gruff, and he does that with 6.5 grendel max and his 7n'8 mm something's. Pure lead tip and linotype bodies. BEAUTIFUL mushrooms

One can cast out of wheel weights and then harden them by beat heat treating.
Afterwards, stand them in water past the lube grooves/driving bands and use a torch to nose soften. You'll see the color of the nose run down the bullet to the waterline.
When done, those nose softened bullets are supposed to do well on game.
