Does anyone have any experience with this trap? I am having trouble finding a whole lot of information about it other than the generic product information. Will this unit hold up to everyday raccoon trapping? Also, will the door drop like a Duke HD if bumped hard enough?

The description says to just raise the door to set. This would be very helpful in my ADC work when I'm out of town and my wife is taking the calls. She is very knowledgeable and gets better all the time at trapping but it's not her passion. Anything I can do to make her life easier I'm all for.

Also any overall thoughts or experience with this trap for anyone in the future that may research this post later?

Thanks as always fellows for all your knowledge and help!

Brian

Sound like you have a smart woman.
I have never had a issue with dukes ex large trap with the door dropping.
I have removed a lot of otter on docks and out of boats with the ex large size
If I was having issues I would make sure the cage is bedded completely and stable.
I have never set a duke cage in the grove.
Add clips.

Teach her to set the trap.

Might have missed the mark. I don't have any issues with our current setup or seeking help trapping. Looking for product insight before making an investment in assets.

Sorry I missed the mark.
Investing assets, I would buy Comstock cages.

DVinke, I should have explained better. I appreciate the vote. I'm seeing a pattern for folks liking and referring Comstocks.

If you go the Comstock route, I just received two more for my collection. These are the 9x11x30 with one flush mount door. I'm using one now as a baited cage for raccoons. Scored a large one yesterday and he did not bend a thing. Got a large groundhog today using it as intended with the flush side towards a hole in a fence. I have 9x11x24 but think the 30 with a flush mount will do several different things.

TNADC, appreciate the insight. Do you utilize any 12x12 or just the 9x11?

I only use the 9x11s. My main target(s) are skunk, groundhogs and raccoon in an attic. This is where the flushmount door shines. You can slide it up to the hole and add some mesh to guide them into the trap. A three way splitter or nose cone does a great job over a skunk or groundhog burrow. Leads them through the trap and makes it fairly easy.
