You are right it was Harley Davidson that stoped me from buying a Harley Davidson back in the day after taking one for a test drive ... calling a limp moped like the one I tried out a "sportster" was a very optimistic overstatement of its capabilities.

A Sportster? That IS not much more than a moped. Don't know why H-D still makes that embarrasment!

I had an off-road ridding buddy who bought a Sportster , he's only 5'1" so it was like a Fatboy to him .....lol

I was living on Tenerife at the time ( Canary Islands ) I don't think they have a piece of straight road that is more than half a mile long. So ya need something that can go around corners. Something that the rest of the HD lineup is not made for. I was suffering the misconception that a bike with north of 1000 cc would actually accelerate and not just get slowly a little faster. My bad. Even my little Suzuki SV 650 left that thing in the dust and that was the bike that I wanted to replace with something that had a bit more get up and go. ..... HD was not the answer to my wats at the time. I had also a Couple of KTM's at the time ... a 350 dirt bike and an LC 9 ... Enduro... wish I still had the LC 9.
If I ever get another bike, it is not going to be a HD

What do you expect from the Management at Harley. Remember they are the same ones that used Elton John in their big Anniversary in Milwaukee a few years ago. They Turned down Kid Rock and the Eagles and brought in Elton John as the big surprise Finale. Then wondered why everyone Boood and left before the first song.

The HD demographic has aged out...They're grabbing straws in a attempt to boost sales....Never will be the same for them.

Not so sure about that. I see lots of expensive Harleys ridden by younger and middle aged guys.

I started out with a 250 Honda. Tried a Norton Atlas and then a HD Sportster. Neither were impressive.

Then came the best of all. Some brain dead but generous guy allowed me to ride his 1955 Vincent Black Shadow. Thiswas in 1962. Now that is a scary impressive machine !

Yes, Mike, indeed. That is a Rheinisch stud in Germany. Germany's finest in drafts, along with other light breeds. For weight in over a ton , they move with precision and grace. This was a show competition that people from the world over attend .

That Rheinisch stallion is more than 1 horse power, compared to a more normal horse.
