Imprinted geese are lots of fun. They will defend you from anything they don't recognize that comes near you. I've had 60 plus adult geese at a time, producing 300 plus young geese. The Toulouse and American Buffs, which are closely related, were my favorites of the domestic geese I've kept. African and Chinese are okay. Geese can be loud and messy. Outside with a lot of land to roam, they are easy keepers and don't need much feed if there is grass and clover to graze on.
The goslings are messy, but not hard to keep. You need to keep the protein level you feed low and not overfeed them or they will get angel wing, where the last section of wing twists out.
I think you will enjoy them.

goose eggs are huge and delicious once you get that far

goose eggs are huge and delicious once you get that far my neighbors from the Philippines would eat the eggs raw, crack a small hole in one end with their finger tips, suck out the juices then peel back the egg and eat the embryo yolk sac and all. I used to gag at the sight of it till I tried it, its not bad.

Well I found a place that has Toulouse goslings for sale. Its only 1 1/2 hours from here. I just got back from the homeless despot where I got some lumber and OSB to build an enclosure under the back deck. Should have that done by evening time, then go get the little birds on Tuesday morning when I have things here set up for them. Got feed for them and all the small stuff today at Rural King and TSC. Anything to keep the admiral happy. Sounds like they are even easier to keep than chickens, so we should be ok I guess. .... This place is turning into a zoo

The admiral has already named them ..... So all I get to eat from them is the odd goose egg. I am fine with that. That and I am not going to eat our lawn mowers

I got 4 .. two are 3 weeks younger from a different brood to have a bit more gene diversity. Did they sex the geese for you? Both of the geese you can see the heads of in the picture appear to be male. Keith

They will guard your place and let you know when something out of the ordinary is going on. They are loud! We had one and when a stray dog broke the goose's leg my dad and sister set its leg with tongue depressors and white athletic tape. It healed stiff legged and would come running like, "Marshall Dillon!!.........Marshall Dillon!" Used to crack me up.
