Wife found this at a garage sale today, $20 for setters, 6 beaver hoops with rings…..and this contraption…lol. In the pic she sent I thought it was an old 330 but take a look at the pics I took when I saw it.
Like a guillotine, probably not nearly as effective as a conibear style. Home made?

They never caught on-too many misses hitting beaver on the nose or top of head.
The flaw was they dont reach out and grab like a rotating jaw trap.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Lol, just edited my post to reflect that. Couldn’t find it in the trap book I got.

I get the principle of trying to get as much pressure on the neck as possible with the one bar and the guillotine affect, but I could see where you would have a lot of misses.

Maybe if I sharpen the drop bar it’d be more effective? Lol
This must’ve come in after conibear, they used his spring idea. It doesn’t really look home made.
Donation to the Whiteshell trappers museum maybe

The trap pictured is a Dahlgren Compensator originally made in Duluth Mn and later moved to Winnipeg, added Erickson as a Manufacturer, added several other killer traps.

"Dalhgren Compensator"
I have no idea how I remembered that name. But I have a photographic memory of nearly every article and advertisement I saw in Fur Fish and Game when I was a kid. Late 60's through early 70's.
