I'm flabbergasted! just learned from a young friend of mine that these days a "push present" is expected, and required to be given to your pregnant wife before labor to compensate her for the pain and misery of childbirth.
I had to google it and apparently there are "rules", as in 3 months worth of salary for the present ,which usually is in the form of jewelry.

Anyone ever heard, or participated in this? My wife can't believe it and thinks it's ridiculous......and she had 2 babies....

My middle daughter recently had her second child. We had a baby shower for her. She received everything she’ll need to take care of the infant for several months. She would laugh at a ridiculous idea such as a “push present”.

Of course it's always nice when a loving spouse gives a gift but a demand or scheduled gift requirement is not a gift at all.

Seems like we needed every bit of that 3 months salary just to keep our heads above water when my first one was born.

How selfish. You'd think they'd want that money going towards either their child, or any improvements needed in home or vehicles.

Perhaps some pain meds. IMO gifts should not be an obligation, but rather come from the heart.

Thank goodness my wife had c-sections. I don't owe her squat.
