Not many know of the USS Liberty.
It was a US intelligents collecting ship that came under attack over international waters shorty before the 1967 six day war. The siege was unmarked Israel fighters. The ship was flying a large United States flag. Some twenty minutes after the air strike it was struck by an Israeli torpedo. During the attack us fighter were called in to intervene. Then for some reason thay were called of by orders of our top leaders. LBJ was our president at that time. There is some conflict as to weather this was a mistake in identity or a planed move by Israel to draw the US into there conflict. Almost 40 casualties and 70% af the remaining crew wounded, a ship on the verge of sinking and they send them to Malta some seven days over some of the deepest waters of the Mediterranean sea. When they were one day from Crete. By the hand of God the ship made it to Malta. When the crew was processed they were given a gag order. Whether this was a mistake in identity or some sout of conspiracy to drag the US into the Israeli conflict, the crew deserves our thanks and respect for the the great losses they endured that day and the years the sevivers have been hushed. Remember the Libberty! Don't let history erase the sacrifice of any fallen solder.

I wish you had just reminded us of the fallen without cheapening it with the conspiracy theory.

Interesting story! I'd never heard of this before.

It comes up about as often as us accidentally shooting down a Libyan airliner full of civilians.

I wouldn't be surprised If the Clowns In Action (CIA) had
a hand in engineering/orchestrating this attack as a
false flag operation for some nefarious black operation
where U.S. servicemen got screwed for some "greater good" calculation.

After all, look no further than the Vietnam fiasco
for the greatest conspiracy theory of all time.

What I think ain’t bringing anybody back or stopping it from happening in the future. Didn’t we execute a translator that was working with our military a few months ago?

Was that an accident or deliberate to fill an agenda.

My intention is not to cheapen the lives lost on that sad day. But to make the story of the survivers and there fallen comrades, not my story, known to to those that are not aware of the history of this day. I won't get into the meet of it the information is out there if someone just search for. I don't want any of our fallen to be lost or the the sacrifice they have made for our freedoms to be cheapened. But if we cover up atrocities of the powers that be we the memories of those that love libberty and our fellow man will be lost in time.

I will never forget and I tell people all the time what happened. I believe the reason the USS Liberty was attacked is that Israel did not want the world to know how far they had penetrated into Egypt during the 6 day war. I was stationed in Turkey at the same time and did the same job as some of the guys on the Liberty, only I was not on a ship. I surmise that the president of the US at the time figured those sailors were disposable, just like yesterdays garbage. Absolutely despicable.
PS the USS Liberty was made in Riverside boat works, Duluth, Mn. It was an old slow boat loaded with lots of electronics.
