I know you said you didn't want to spend money but the Bass Pro in Memphis is pretty cool if you've never been there.
Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

Ground Zero in Clarksdale is interesting even if no one is playing. Lunch menu is reasonable and food is pretty good. Blues Museum also in Clarksdale is also worth a visit if you interested in such things

No forget that ALL You must not have been there. They have a huge lake inside with all kinds of fish and wild ducks on it. Huge aquariums. It's not about the stuff to buy it's about the stuff to see and it's not in a bad part of Memphis.

Meeman Shelby state park a little north of Memphis on the TN side is pretty cool...Shiloh Battlefield is just a little north of Corinth, Ms.
Graceland if you like Elvis, is pretty neat.
And, the Buford Pusser (Walking Tall) home is just a little west of Memphis in Mcnairy County, Tn.

Road side Barb -B-Que. It's outside Memphis and the best I have ever had. They have fixed it up since I as there 7 years ago. We went on a recommendation when traveling just like you asked. Er wr we told it looks rough but ont let that scare you. I checked and the bathrooms were clean as was the inside it was just old. There were 2 BiG black ladies behind the counter and about 8 young ones under ten running around. One of the ladies asked what can I get you and I asked what she recommended." Well round here's we's is pork people" so I told her to set me up. When it came I devoured it and ordered another meal and nearly liked the plate clean. I ordered 3 more meals to go and pit them I the cooler in the truck and ate them later. Now those folks can flat out cook. It's over 6 hrs for me but I'm looking fir an excuse to get back down there. GPS took us through the middle of Memphis . I have never Seen so many boarded up houses. Block after block for a few miles it seemed. Stay out of that area. But the BBQ place it out side of town o$ the hwy and good to go.
