Thanks BUT. Its very slow work today. It is sand. But it is compressed like nothing I have ever seen. 6 inch down. Dirt bit may start to smoke. Then you have to find a new place to drill! LoL!

We could've used you in the service. Land mines was one of my jobs.

Glad I don't have to do trap maps like we did mine maps.

Find an identifiable landmark and plot it to a eight digit grid. Shoot a bearing and distance to first mine, rinse cycle repeat for each additional mine.

My favorite though was booby trapping the mines. Every so often you dig an extra deep hole and bury two mines the bottom one fused to the top one with a pull fuse.

I made a few sets a week ago. Picked up my first summer coyote today. Young male caught him on a quail nest set. Remade set hopefully another one will pass thru.

Phil,
I have used pigeon eggs to make 'mock turtle nest' sets for years and found it to be a very effective set.
Ants and heat seldom bother an egg that hasn't been damaged (cracked) and coyotes seem to smell the eggs through the shell.
No other scent is used, or even needed for that matter.

Would eggs fall afoul, see what I did there, of the various open visual bait laws of some states?

Have you seen any sign of pups following along on the road while tracking the roads .I was out on some property scouting sign and noticed several sets of tracks together. I know it is about time in my area.

Here is the bottle of = Mouse Musk Oil = I got from Bob Jameson. I have caught 2 coyote with it so far. I think. It will do well for me on the summer. A mouse smell. In a clump of grass. Is Very natural It has a very good smell Seams sticky enough. Good applicater to use for grub stakes. Hasnt rain here yet so dont know how will stand up to massive southern rains BUT my quess is it will do fine

ST,
You seem to have caught more critters in past week on a few thousand acres than you did in west TX on many thousand acres in over a month....

Swamp Wolf. We basically replaced a VERY good trapper. Knee problems and other health problems had him turn it over to us. Just not alot of coyotes where I am on 1 ranch in West Texas. The other 2 ranches are mostly snare work

The issue I run into with dirt like that is it becomes powder after being disturbed. Definitely no remakes after a catch, lol. Sand is ok, the dirt that looks like your pics is powder…literally powder. I’ll have to wet it to get a set packed and hope it holds once the sun dries it out.

2022 bought with 4900 miles. Now has 49000 miles about 14 months latter. So good so far. Off Road about everyday. Had front brake pads put on at 40000 miles. Got 22-23 mph gallon on 1200 mile trip. Happy so far

Just curious about your truck. I am needing one soon. I see you said you got 22-23 miles to gallon on the road trip ..Is it 4 wheel drive? Tundra or Tacoma..
