For spots to camp to witness, at ground zero for duration, the total eclipse of the sun in 2024?

Can you clarify that question?

In 2024 there is a total eclipse of the sun. I happen to live in the area where the total full eclipse will last 4 minutes or so. If I remember correctly here a few years back we had an eclipse where the longest duration of total eclipse was somewhere over parts of Kansas and folks were paying good money to stay in that area. The eclipse happening in 2024 is supposedly even longer. Reservations at state parks are feeling up quickly. It's expected that the county where I live, with a population of a little over 12,000 will grow during that period to around 100,000. So I was wondering what do you think a person could charge per primitive camp site during this event? My ground is in the perfect viewing area and wouldn't be much of a problem to lay out sites for camping.

I wonder if primitive camping might be your limiting factor. Most people that have the time and money to travel for such an event probably aren't the primitive type.

This is true. Maybe I should find a Wiccan forum to advertise. I imagine an eclipse such as this would be a big event amongst said crowd.

You may have found your target audience!
If that many people are coming to the area I'm sure area hotels and traditional campgrounds will fill up fast. You might just fill up your place up too.

I'm sure they'll be plenty of hippies in vans and such looking to spend as little as possible.

Depends on your area. In 2017 the eclipse passed over north Georgia. North Georgia is almost all National Forest land with campsites all over. I took the family up there and camped. The campgrounds were full of folks doing the same.

BUT, they emptied out during the eclipse as the local towns, Clayton, Helen, etc were throwing big shindigs for the eclipse.

So you may have luck if your area has a lack of free or low cost sites, which I doubt considering all the Corps of Engineer lands along the Mississippi. Event parties would be the way to draw in a crowd.

Friend from my QC Dept spent much money on last one.
Married couple and no Kids .
Not sure if it was a fertility attempt ?
Booked out way in advance and were glad they had reserved a room in the path.

Certain crowds its a huge deal.

Turning them all loose on the back 40 ?
Remember to factor in that risk in your price.

No refunds for inclement weather !

Now if I could get my neighbor across the street on board, he is a retired NASA engineer with a small observatory. I have six acres of road frontage. I provide the parking and observation area while he provides view by big screen of eclipse. Sell packages.

Camping in the road must be a Canadian thing.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I did not expect the one that happened a few years ago to be very impressive and wouldn’t have traveled much to see it. After experiencing it I was very impressed and would travel a bit to see one. It got dark and cooled off in the middle of the day.

It brought in a lot of people. I think there are opportunities to cash in. Get some porta potties lined up or some way to deal with people waste and trash. Having some water available would be good too. Some people here were running into issues with zoning type regulations with renting in residential areas. At least one county made a variance for the time around the eclipse to let some locals cash in on the short term influx of people.
