Well that's the thing the guy over me I work with will barley talk to me the out entire 7hr shift. I mean I get not talking for conversation but he like doesn't say anything. And I'm constantly asking stuff like " hay what are we about to do " hay what's the plan for today " "want me to sweep or mop" "what's frequency we running ?" and most of it is just met with silence mabye a barely audible mumble if I'm lucky. Like no communication . I'm trying to be helpful and not a annoying and I get getting a feel for the new guy but idk I'm getting a weird vibe here compared to the other tow boats I've helped on and crews we've been meeting.
But he's not really making life hard or anything so guess I can't complain too much. Definitely have spent longer doing more work with people alot worse
That being said though some of these older guys riding over have been complimenting me alot . The old engineer fella said he'd love to have me working with him if I ever get bored of snatching wires I'm making the most of it regardless, will also say, had frog legs for the first time in forever today in the galley. Boy that was a nice treat

If only I was told to do something . He'll legit just walk off without speaking a word or just kinda sit there looking at something till I ask for the third time what he wants to do . No getting the classic " old but stern grouchy mentor" vibe from him at all. If anything he's more like the guy I delt with at my factory job who get mad at me for taking notes and just point blank told me he prefers to run new guys off.
But I prefer not to jump to conclusions. We will see . There's a lot of movement in this company as far as moving around so if anything I can just put in a transfer request and eveyones been telling me it's no big deal at all and pretty much the norm. Especially for deckhands trying to get their transfers like me
