What a difference a year can make. Last year it peaked on June 13th at 50,000+ cfs, this year on May 23rd at about 18,000. Last year’s peak smashed the previous record high flow by nearly 20,000 cfs. You never know what a free flowing river is going to do.

" Nothing's as soft as water. But who can withstand , the raging flood ?" ...an old Asian saying.

What a mighty river the Yellowstone is. Last year, it sliced out huge portions of highway , like a hot knife through buttah. I was impressed with our Governor's support, in how fast crews repaired or redirected those roads.

Heck yeah! 5 million visitors a year to Jellystone! That's $$$ in the Federal coffers.

Ok, Gary, who is not here....that was not my point. All damage is repaired asap .

It is about the river, that I am focusing on.

Drop the digressive politics . Please.

You can keep the federal government on your side of the state where the tourists are. We peaked at over 90000 cfs and with zero state or federal government interference we did things with backhoes, skidsteers and farm equipment the government never would have allowed to be done if they were around. Homes were lost but we saved way more. Neighbors sticking together and getting stuff done. No news crews or other interference thank the lord. We just received 4 inches of rain in the last 2 days praying it stays out of the mountains this year so we don’t get anything coming our way like last year.

You are correct. Guys around here that have equipment offered to fix some of the county roads and were told that they would be fined if they touched them. So stupid.

Probably due to liability.

Running pretty high here at the ranch was up into the willow bars a few days ago. It went out nice and tame this spring and will be high through June for us.

We ended up with 6 inches here. River is up but still well into its banks. A few county roads are washed out but could have been worse if the grass wasnt so tall already. Pretty odd for us to get that kind of rain. Last year the mountains got about five inches of rain on all the snow and brought it all at once. From what I’m hearing this cell stayed mostly east of the mountains. Sure is pretty to see all the small reservoirs full in the dry land. Amazing what god can do in a 2 days.
