I know there’s a handful of members that drew tags this year- just started this thread so we can follow along. We put a logging road through our main bait site last year, need to readjust stands and tweek some things before the season but here’s some pics- bait got hit first night and about 8-9 different bears. A lot of changes will take place between now and opener but just wanted to see what’s out there. I’m about 200 yards off a large swamp and I will have all of my ag fields in standing corn, west and north of this site.

Nice photos! I seen a big boar that was cut up pretty bad on his face from fighting.
Breeding season here.

Bear seem to be a little picky. We moved a bait a hundred yards or less and it took a while before they trusted it again.

Just the right amount of whelm.

cinnamon one could use somre groceries before denning up. Amazing how those animals can focus in on a desirable site so quickly and then just put up stakes. Baiting bear makes the money I lose trapping rats look like a petty cash fund.

Any updates?
I pretty much have the same cast of characters hitting the bait- the small cinnamon bear has not been at the bait since the last pic but I've seen him on other trailcams consistently. This is an older photo- "Coffee Break"

Zone A- We're averaging 10 years per draw. It used to be 7 and we had someone hunting every year- no longer the case and bear numbers are high in our area.

Just looked at my bear preference points, only 7, I wanted to see if it paid to start saving up bear bait, doesn't look like I need to start yet if it is still 3 or 4 years out for A or B.

Mark,
Yup- here's the detail:
The minimum number of preference points needed to draw a license in 2022 were: Zone A, nine points (an increase of one from the previous year); Zone B, 12 points (up one); Zone C, two points (no change); Zone D, two points (no change); Zone E, one point (no change); Zone F, two points (up one).

I started a bait down here to try and draw in the Waukesha county bear, pictures of him only a mile from my 30 acres, only deer and furbearers so far, I will give it a little bit longer, just wanted to see if I could get a trail cam pic of him.
