What the H is a Norway rat? Norway rats, Rattus norvegicus, are the most common rat species in the US. Most people just call them rats or sewer rats. They are probably originally from Asia, not Norway. They traveled all around the world on ships. The other nonnative rat we have are Black rats. They are less common. Keith

How did having squirrels for dinner turn into a discussion about barn rats lol My thoughts exactly. I was day dreaming of fried squirrel on a plate with biscuits and gravy.

Keith Lord I hope so lol Little different diet and habits. I'd bet that most rats have a better diet than squirrels. Lots of good grains and feed in barns, elevators, and other places that humans feed livestock.

Keith Lord I hope so lol Little different diet and habits. Maybe in the woods but having watched squirrels in and around the cities and watching them rummage around in garage cans I have my doubts about diet and habits My dad always referred to squirrels as rats with good suits Now dad might have been biased he once told me his company had trapped and eaten rats on the islands when fighting the Japanese during WW2 and their supply lines had been cut and food ran out
