I’ve had several people contact me in the past few weeks wanting to borrow live traps,, I told them that I don’t loan out live traps anymore,, when they come back damaged or don’t come back at all,, that hits the wallet kinda hard… I don’t use the rural king/tractor supply el cheapos,,, we know good quality cage traps ain’t cheap. They don’t like it when I tell them they can buy a cheapie for 40 bucks. I don’t give out free live traps anymore

Traps just like tools don’t return sad thing is most probably end up in the junk pile or sold at a yard sale, not a bad guy a smart guy

Don't blame you at all. Maybe ask for a deposit on the traps then return the deposit less a per day rental charge. Set the deposit fee a little higher than the trap cost. If they keep your trap more than 10 days, they have bought it.

Loaning stuff out to people is taking a good risk it ain't coming back or at least not in the condition it left in. My sis is the worst bless her heart. Doesn't seem to bother her the least bit. She's my sis so I let it go under the bridge but I'm pretty careful what I loan her now.

I've had some customers give me Have-a-junk traps. Those are the only ones I loan out.

My problem with loaning out stuff if I forget who got what and apparently all their memories are as good as mine.

I loaned 7.coon sized, box traps to a friend and the 17 year old kid working for him blew holes in 6 of them with a 12 gauge shotgun. One trap.had 2 holes in it. You would have thought the kid would have stopped after making the first hole in 1. My friend did replace the damaged wire on all of them but 1, which got lost and was later found.

She put up an arena at her house years ago so she could rope. I had about 25 or so horn wraps in an extra large duffel bag. In order to keep them together for my convenience I LOANED her the whole bag. About 8 years later a neighbor puts up an arena and remembering I had a set of horn wraps that she wasn't using anymore I give sis a call. I ask to get them back and she tells me she loaned them to this no account bum that lives around here, she says that she could call him but it wouldn't do any good because she was sure he'd probably sold them for drinking money...... and she's the one that gave my wraps too him.... doesn't say sorry, or I'll replace them, just tells me matter of factly that she loaned my wraps out to someone she knew would never bring them back....

I don't Loan anything to anyone except the five people on my short list. The others get a solid NO!!!

when you bring the trap back in the condition it left in , with a case of my beer you can have your rifle back

I have 3 people who I loan to, or I who barrow from. Coincidentally, that represents the exact number of friends which I keep at any given time.

Just ask them if they have a gun for collateral. just make sure you have it in writing that it's not stolen.

Never loan anything you can't afford to loose.

I just say, "I had one but loaned it out and it never came back"....

Friend of mine was nuisance trapping coon for awhile, had a bunch of good live traps. One by one they were loaned out to "friends" I think he has 1 left......

Quit loaning things when they started never returning, but do rent some things UT the person also rent the rented item owner because of the expense of the item and complexity of properly setting or operating the item. $10.00 per day for item and 20.00 per hr for owner to deliver and set up or use item i.e. metal detector
