So I've been lurking for a while but decided to join and ask some questions about live market trapping fox. I've trapped before mostly coons and muskrats, lucked into a fox or two. Anyways what do I need trapwise to ensure a healthy fox. I've got some old 1.5s with just regular jaws but not sure how that is on the feet. Also how hard is to get them out of the trap into a cage without getting bit? Then there's the yote issue we can't have them in fox pens here but it'll go over good with the landowners if you can catch a few of them to get rid of them is thier a good softcatch trap thatll hold yotes without damaging foxes? I appreciate any help y'all can give me.

As I have been told and learned that there is no perfect live market trap for both fox and coyote. For fox I use victor 1.5 rubber jaws with extra swivels and about a 12in chain with a added base plate. You could modify the 1.5 you have by adding a base plate and laminate the Jaws.I have also bought a couple MB 450 fox trap version closed jaw and have used them with good results and have held coyotes in them. I would suggest a good catch pole that locks when removing a fox from the trap. Those little grays or vicious. I would rather box a coyote than a gray fox. I learned some of this info from some Great guys on this forum. Good Luck.

You're better off to buy traps that are designed/made with mods.

From my experience, I'd go with the MB450 closed jaw...if I was still live marketing. They will do well on foxes and will hold every coyote too.

Take the 450 out of the box and go at it.

I’ll second the 450’s. I’ve held coyotes, bobcats, and fox with those traps. They are built like their older brother the 550…absolute tanks.

I'm gonna order a few this weekend. I guess I've got plenty of time between now and trapping season to prepare.
