Considering the state you live in I would be reluctant to buy an over the counter firearm. Is there any online local forums or sites that have used guns for sale. We have 2 here in Alaska. I would look for a face to face sale for a used gun.

Maybe at a target for the creedmoor. Not a long range hunting caliber by my standards. 6.5 prc for long range hunting on medium game is a good starting point.

Ruger American or Ruger American Predator. Both shoot great and topped with nice scopes they hit where you aim. No kick to speak of either.

Remington if produced pre-1993 before the sale to investment bankers. You may still find a good one until 2000, but be careful.

I've explained this more than once on the forum. I spent most of my working life at Remington and have previously suggested on here NOT to buy any new Remington.

Quality was going slowly down hill on a continuous basis after the initial sale to Clayton-Dubllier and Rice.. Only got worse after the second sale to the second investment company.

Ruger American .450 Bushmaster... honest 200 yd. gun, straight wall cartridge law friendly... mine is loud but kick is moderate. Good scope is a plus, maybe a Leupold. Mine has the longer barrel, not fond of the carbine model.
