Great pics gulo-you sure got a good variety of snakes in your country.
I think the only ones here are garter snakes.

I like your snake pictures. Please keep them coming.

My friends and I used to travel all over the state and occasionally out of state, to catch different herptiles and fish.

Always enjoy your pictures, such a vast knowledge on so many different things. I didn’t realize you had such a variety of snakes in that country.

Is that what they call a buttermilk racer?

We just got the the black and southern black racers. Both black and only difference is where found.

Really like your photos, Jack, on anything.

One of these days I'm gonna catch a rubber boa , like you have. I'll take plenty of pics before turning it loose where I found it . You will see every one of them, too grin

I'm jealous. You think boas you think tropical and we're more tropical so why don't we have boas down here, lol.

I'd be willing to trade four moccasins for one rubber boa.

grin Aren't they the neatest looking ? They don't look real. They look like a fake rubber snake. And, they live extremely long.

I just need to go on the hunt more around dusk, along the gravel road.

They are way out there on the neat factor. The closest we got on the odd looking scale are our glass lizards.

Sharon -

Found a rubber boa last night. Only the second one for the year. Have a buddy coming tonight from North Idaho to see if we can find one for his life list. Weather doesn't look like it'll be cooperative, however.

Last night's boa. Have found 56 snakes this year; only the second rubber boa.

Another rubber boa. The youngsters are usually lighter-colored, sometimes pinkish or yellowish. Because of their blunt tails and heads, they can sure look like a night crawler.

That is so amazing.

I bet they love lounging in the warmth of your hand. All the gator lizards and garter snakes loved being held on cool days , they became quite tame over time. I could pick them up without them trying to escape after a couple times.

I’ll have you know, Jack, you’ve got me driving very slow on my road, looking for boas , and so I won’t run one over by accident. Sometimes I see a curvy stick and think I have found one grin

I’ve seen several of the garter snakes on the road recently and one rubber boa down here.

I was in Illinois a couple of weeks ago and this guy attacked me. He is an eastern hognose.

I did a little reading about them and now wished that I would have fought back to see if it would have played dead. The Wikipedia says they will play dead if the hissing and striking don’t work. I just took a couple of pictures and went on my way.
