LOL.I have a cooler of ice with me fishing also.Off the hook,,into the ice cooler.BEST way to keep them till you get home.

Male bluegills. You can tell they are big when they have a forehead.

Point them pretty yellow bellies at someone and give them fish a little squeeze.

Caught a bunch like that today out of the little pond in our yard. Surprised me as all we used to have were itty bitty ones. Maybe the big channel cat and several crappie we put in there are making a difference. Caught a mess like that inside half an hour.

My cousins ex wife's family has a few lakes that had stunted fish. Dnr told them to poison the are to kill them and start over. Their water comes from the lakes so that was not an option.

My cousin and I started keeping the 3 lb and up bass we caught in the pit lakes alive in the live well and released them into the stunted lakes. We also dumped and pushed brush piles in to the lake and drug them into passion with the boat.

In just a year or two you could catch 6 and 8 lb bass in those lakes nice blue gill and not a lot of small stunted fish. We figured the big fish would thin out the smaller fish and with the added structure the lfish population would become healthy. Turned out to work. A couple of farm boys theories worked and they had big fish years ahead of what the dnr plan would have. It was also free, nontoxic, and fun

That's exactly what big male bluegills look like this time of year. Just like his first picture the OP posted.

I've cleaned probably 200 of them bluegills this year and 4-500 crappies to go with them. lol
