It was to wet first thing this morning to spray corn, so a couple of the boys and I drained one of the pasture tanks that has been leaking. We broke the golden rule for cement water tanks and let sit empty for a few years. It developed a couple decent cracks that drop the water level a few inches every day. For repair we just make a slurry out of Monarch cement and brush it on a quarter to half thick. Turn the solar pump back on before it dries and it will seal like new. Thought some might like seeing how we do it.

Do you put some fish in those tanks to keep the mosquitoes and flies from breeding in them?

How many gallons of water does that tank hold?

Keith we put goldfish in them to keep the moss down. If I remember right they hold around 2500 gallon. There are lots of cement cattle tank’s around here. I was told once there was a government program in the 60’s and 70’s that cost shared on them.

Do you fill them with windmills? Always liked seeing all the windmills out west near stock tanks.
