Family's annual spring canoe fishing trip. Three generations on this one, the old boys in one canoe, myself and son in the other.

[Linked Image]

The old boys, over 150 years of experience in the canoe. Man they can still paddle hard all day long, getting out of the canoe is a different story. Heard some sounds from them I have not heard before.
[Linked Image]

Rain coming in, kitchen set-up, the self appointed cook in place. Its the only time he cooks, say's anyone can make food taste good in the woods. I disagree but his morning breakfast sandwiches are delicious.

The old boys limiting out!

It's what dinner, had for dinner. Son got a kick out of checking each fish to see what they where feeding on.
[Linked Image]

There's something about a double digit laker in a canoe!
[Linked Image]

The young lad was getting worn out on the way back, good opportunity to talk about working through the "suck" until the job is done.

Looks like you had a good trip. Lake trout are one of my favorite fish. The trout should still be up top. I went first week in June , for many years, .In the Temagami area Recently becoming a member of the old boys club, know where all the good spots are , have trouble getting there. Enjoy your family trips , They are special. old243

I seriously doubt it I might be the only person dumb enough to take a canoe on the big lake they call Gitche Gumee

wife asked how deep the water was , I said you can't touch the bottom , she asked again , well not having sonar in the canoe , the chart I looked at says 200 give or take.
that was 23 years ago we honey mooned in the apostil islands

it was a nice day

How many portages we had pretty much guarantees no motors! Beautiful canoe! My trapping canoe is a 15 foot Scott Prospector.

Love Temagami and usually make it up once a year. Almost had the wife talked into a job at the local hospital and my eye on a couple registered traplines that where open this year in the area.

No Sir! Biggest water I have been on is Georgian Bay and when the wind picks up there so does the pucker factor. Unless your Bill Mason not many are taking 16 foot canoes onto big lakes any distance.

You want pucker factor-get out on James Bay in a freighter when the wind picks up.

No kidding, never been and probably never will be. My hats off to everyone that does it though.......

Some beautiful country on the rivers leading into James bay in the lowlands. Some "lost" canoe routes that used to be used for the fur trade and just are not because of modern machines.
